Some Thought It Was Just a Dream; Others, a Legend Experienced Only by Millennials: Whatever the Case, Flappy Bird Lands on Epic Games Store for Android; Also No Web3 Confirmed

Flappy Bird, the infamous mobile sensation that once dominated smartphone screens and spawned countless memes, has officially returned. Launching today, the game is available exclusively for Android users through the Epic Games Store.

Originally created by Dong Nguyen and released in 2013, Flappy Bird gained notoriety for its punishingly simple yet addictive gameplay before being pulled from app stores in 2014. Now, under the stewardship of Flappy Bird Publishing, the feathered flapper is back, offering both nostalgia and new content for old fans and newcomers alike.

Classic and Quest Modes Available

The updated version includes the Classic mode many will remember, featuring one-tap controls and the same pixel-perfect navigation through endless rows of pipes. A new Quest mode spices things up by introducing unlockable worlds, each with fresh themes and increasingly tricky obstacles.

The developers have also confirmed that regular updates will roll out across 2025, promising new characters, worlds, and themes to keep the momentum alive. Importantly, the team emphasized that this version will steer clear of Web3 elements, focusing solely on ads and in-app purchases for support.

Epic Games Store Exclusive

Jon David of Flappy Bird Publishing commented on the decision to partner with Epic, citing the platform’s developer-friendly terms and player-first approach. “Flappy Bird is here to stay, and only going to get bigger from here on out,” he stated.

Flappy Bird is available now on Android exclusively through the Epic Games Store.
